Swimming Against the Tide
Swimming Against the Tide
Swimming Against The Tide is a jointly funded improvement programme for Wadebridge Sports and Leisure Centre made possible by a Community Ownership Grant from UK Government Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and match funding provided by a range of individual local, and national funders.
The aims of the programme are to:
- Return the fabric and plant of the building to good condition fit for the future reducing carbon footprint wherever possible
- Reduce the operating costs of the centre through energy efficient plant, reduced reliance on pool chemicals and investments that improve staff workflow
- Increase revenue through introduction of new services namely a soft play facility for children under 11 and a healthy eating cafe
Latest Update
Work is currently underway to reconfigure the ‘dry side’ space on the ground floor to allow for the new studio, accessible change village, cafe and softplay. All dryside activities are continuing as normal and users are asked to arrive changed where possible and use facilities poolside where necessary. Dryside works are expected to complete at the end of July 2024.
The pool reopened on 19th August following extensive refurbishment works. Some ongoing works to the end of August will continue in the changing village and there will be no pool side accessible WC/Shower and private shower rooms until 1st September. Dry side facilities are available throughout as are cubicle change spaces and WCs and pool side rinse showers. We apologise for any impact this may have on your enjoyment of your pool time with us.
