The Wadebridge Sports & Leisure Centre is run by the Friends of Wadebridge Leisure Centre. (FOWLC)

We are a collective of local people with specialist business expertise who are passionate about providing an accessible sports and leisure facility for the Wadebridge community and all those who live in the surrounding villages, including visitors to the area.

When the centre was threatened with closure, we set up a Community Interest Company to manage and run the Wadebridge Leisure Centre in order to prevent its closure. We put in place a business plan that aims to safeguard the facility for future generations to enjoy. We officially took over on 1st September 2022 and we would love to stay in touch with you to keep you updated about our progress.

The FOWLC Board works closely with the head teacher and staff at neighbouring Wadebridge Secondary School, as well as all the local primary schools in order to support active healthy children, ensuring that they are able to swim at least 25m - a vital skill in a coastal community such as ours!

We also work closely with the RNLI and local swimming, surf lifesaving and sports clubs who do an incredible job inspiring their members to learn new skills, keep fit and be the best they can be. Over the years the centre has nurtured and produced several national and Olympic athletes, and FOWLC want to build on that impressive legacy.

Another key outcome for FOWLC is to facilitate positive physical and mental health for all ages and abilities and this will be reflected in the programme of activities on offer and the membership options for the centre. If you have suggestions for us, please write to us

FOWLC aims to build a vibrant community led sports and swimming hub for everyone to enjoy and use - and we want you to be a part of it!

Our FOWLC Board members reflect all of these priorities. If you are interested in a position on the Board, please get in touch

We are very pleased that the existing staff of the Wadebridge Leisure Centre have chosen to transition across to FOWLC, so you will continue to see many familiar faces at the centre.

We are also hoping to build on our existing team and are looking for more individuals who are also passionate about physical activity and sports who already hold, or are willing to obtain, qualifications in pool lifesaving and fitness instruction. If you are looking for a career in sports and leisure please read our current vacancies and get in touch.
