Swim Safety Rules
Swimming pools can be dangerous environments, so for your own safety please follow these swim safety rules. You are responsible for your own safety and that of your children and you must actively supervise your children whilst they are in the pool.
- All babies, infants and young children who are not toilet trained should wear aqua nappies underneath their swim suit or a nappy swimming costume.
- Aqua nappies, swimsuits, goggles and armbands may be available to purchase – ask at reception for details.
- In the main pool, 1 adult can accompany up to 2 children under 8, although children under 5 will require 1 adult to 1 child.
- In the learner pool, 1 adult may accompany up to 2 children under the age of 5, or 4 children between the ages of 5 and 8
- Children under 8 and non-swimmers under 16 must be accompanied in the water by a competent adult swimmer (16+).
- The maximum ratio allowed per adult is two children under 8, or two non swimmers under 16.
- The competent adult swimmer must actively supervise any under 8’s and non-swimmers under 16, do not leave them unattended or beyond eye contact, and ensure they stay in the shallow water.
- We strongly recommend that under 8’s and all non-swimmers use armbands and/or appropriate buoyancy aids.
- Children between 8 and 10 years of age must be able to swim 25-metres competently; otherwise, they must be accompanied by a responsible person over the age of 16.
- Children aged over 10 years will be admitted if unable to swim 25 metres, however, they must stay in the shallow end and inform a Lifeguard.
- It is recommended that any non-swimmers over the age of 16 are accompanied in the water by a competent adult swimmer.
- Wetsuits, rash vests, face masks, fins, large inflatables, paddles and snorkels are not permitted, unless in a structured session.
